ROMANTIC, PASTEL WEDDING AT L'EDEN ROUGE - QUEBEC

January 11, 2024 by Emma-lee Hacker

It’s not everyday you get to witness a wedding that is equal parts gorgeous and meaningful. Graham & Dominique’s special day was just that. From the elegant florals by The Wandering Ivy, to the food and ambiance by L’Eden Rouge, to their statement alter installation, everything was so beautifully thought out. They curated a day that reflected them so well - it was romantic, fun, and full of love. And I truly think the reason why it all came together so perfectly is because Dominique & Graham, and their families, are such genuine and kind people. After just a day with them, I could really feel the love they share. {I definitely shed a few tears during the speeches}

I really could go on and on…even over a year later, I still think about how special this day was and I thought it deserved a place on the blog.

Engagement Photoshoot Tips: How to Feel Comfortable and Confident in Front of the Camera

April 20, 2023 by Emma-lee Hacker

Hey there lovebirds! Congratulations on your engagement, what an exciting time! Your engagement photos are a wonderful way to capture your love and excitement for one another, but we understand that it can be nerve-wracking to be in front of the camera. That's why I’ve put together some tips to help you feel comfortable and confident before your engagement shoot.

First and foremost, choose a location that feels special to you as a couple or that you feel comfortable in. This can help set the tone for a relaxed and enjoyable shoot. Be sure to communicate with your photographer about your vision for the shoot and any concerns you may have. A good photographer will be able to put you at ease and help you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

When it comes to outfits, choose clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident, and make sure they complement each other and the location of the shoot. And speaking of the photographer, take some time to get to know them before the shoot. This can help you feel more comfortable and relaxed during the shoot, and can also help your photographer capture your personalities and love for each other.

Practice posing in front of a mirror or with your partner before the shoot to help you feel more confident and natural in front of the camera. And if you're feeling adventurous, consider bringing props or planning activities for your engagement photoshoot. This can actually help you feel more relaxed and give you something to focus on besides the camera.

But most importantly, remember to have fun! Engagement photos should be a celebration of your love for each other, so focus on each other and the excitement you share. Let your photographer capture the natural and authentic moments between you, and don't worry about being perfect. Imperfections are what make us unique and beautiful.

I hope these tips help you feel more comfortable and confident before your engagement photoshoot. Congratulations again on your engagement, and I can't wait to capture your love story!

BRENDAN & DANA // RAINY NORTHERN ONTARIO BACKYARD WEDDING

September 15, 2021 by Emma-lee Hacker

If you’ve ever planned a wedding, one of your worries might have been the weather - it’s a silly thing to worry about I guess because it’s not something you can control, the only thing you can do is be prepared for what could happen and make the best of whatever the skies decide to do. And that’s exactly what Dana & Brendan did! We joked that their luck with weather seems to be bad, as the colourful October engagement session we had planned turned out to be a whiteout blizzard. And of course their beautiful wedding day was no different - mid ceremony it began to pour. It felt like a moment right out of a movie, friends and family huddled together under umbrellas and with the pitter patter of the rain the only people who heard Dana & Brendan’s handwritten vows were each other.

I can think of so many people who would have considered this unexpected weather a day ruined, but it really brought such a fun and carefree atmosphere to the wedding. You just can’t plan these things, and that’s why I feel these images have such a organic and authentic quality to them. Sunny weddings are overrated. Let your hair get a little wet and your dress a little muddy.

Huge thank you to Katelyn Malo Photography for capturing this wedding with me, but mostly for holding an umbrella over my camera so it didn’t get destroyed!
